Wilmington Bilingual Preschool is a 100% Spanish Immersion Preschool and private kindergarten in Wilmington, NC. Our goal is to provide a safe, caring and educational environment for children to be immersed in Spanish.
Spanish Immersion means all activities are conducted in Spanish, including play time, circle time, eating and work time. Classes are taught in 100% Spanish because immersion has been shown to be the most effective way to achieve fluency. Teachers use visual cues and keep classes interactive so children understand.
Early childhood is an ideal time to start a second language. Young brains learn language more easily than at any other time in life. Studies show bilingual children demonstrate increased analytical, social and academic skills in math, science, creativity and memory. Tuition and program details are available on request.
We accept children 13 months – 6 years old in our preschool program. That covers our half day school, our full day school, and our private kindergarten. For summer camp, we accept students who are K-5th grade. We also offer an afterschool program for grades K-5. Applications are accepted year round based on availability.
We offer both half days and full day care at two separate locations. The half day school runs 9 a. m. – 1 p. m., with drop off at 9 and pickup at 1. The full day school is open 8 a. m. – 5:30 p. m. with flexible drop off and pickup, except during nap time. Space is limited at both.
The half day school is located at 100 Spartan Road, 1B, off Market Street near Defy Gravity. The full day school is located at 606 South College Road, near UNCW. Both serve children 13 months – 6 years old. Families can ask us which location fits their schedule and route.
On a typical day, children move through play time, circle time, eating and work time — all conducted in Spanish. Teachers use visual cues and hands-on activities so children understand long before they can answer. Classrooms are set up for the ages in the room, with space for group time, meals and quiet rest. Teachers share notes with families about what children did and learned.
Children adapt easily to the second language because they are in the early stages of their language development and their young brains are wired for accepting language. Parents may pick up or drop off anytime between these hours, except during nap time. We have two locations to serve families in Wilmington, NC.
